To me successful life means I DO WHAT I LOVE and I LOVE WHAT I DO. If I can do something that I like, I also feel like I’m a success person because no one prohibits and tells me that I do a wrong thing. I don’t know why, but I think the first priority before I do something is satisfaction. Satisfaction means I enjoy and I am free to do something.
Beside it, a successful life means I reach my goals with my own sweat. Sometimes, I hated someone who talked & showed his works, reached by a wrong way. I also didn’t like someone who measured a successful by MONEY. I thought he was an example of egoist person who always thought how he could get much and much money without thought about what he could give to his environment.
I believe be a success person doesn’t mean that I must be an important person or have a good position in my company. A success person is a person who isn’t only useful for himself, but also for human being and nature. And the most important thing is HE REACHS HIS SUCCESSFUL BY HIS SWEAT AND OF COURSE, THE TRUTH!!!
I give more appreciation to someone who gives the contribution to his country or nature with a willing heart even though the other people don’t have a response to him, but he just stay doing, as a proven of his belief. Forever, I always pray to every person like him to get what they deserve and also a justice from the Supreme God.
I have many examples that prove the meaning of successful to me is right. Like a man who lived in one of provinces of Sumatra who felt his heart was touched by God to save and built his environment. He planted the mangroves which were near his abrasion beach. He did it everyday because he loved his beach and his environment. For the first time, people around him mocked and said that his action wouldn’t useful anymore and just spent his time. But, he just believed what he has thought before.
After years, his action caused a significant increasing amount of fishes and his mangroves grew rapidly and protected his hometown from abrasion. He did it because he realized that good environment would bring his and the other’s life to be better. He did it without any payment from government but he never felt disappointment until he got an Adipura award from government. After that, people around him followed his action because they have just realized that mangroves also gave them a higher income.
That was a story that inspired me to have my own successful’s meaning. Actually, most of people advised me to choose a major in university that will be needed by many companies and will have a high salary. I was getting confuse. Sometimes, my logic said yes, but my heart said no. My heart showed me that money didn’t always give me happiness and satisfaction. Money sometimes brought a kind person to be a wicked person and money taught us to be an egoist person. After I knew that story, my belief came back and now I believe that successful means WE CAN GET THE HAPPINESS, SATISFACTION, BE AN REQUIRED PERSON, AND LOVE WHAT WE’RE DOING.
I hope electronic media doesn’t only show politics, entertainment, and such damn things like that, but also gives the viewers the inspiration story. I think most of Indonesians need it to CHANGE THEIR THE WAY OF THINKING OF SUCCESSFUL’S MEANING (most of them are materialism). And I hope someday no one will force the other people to look for A HIGH PAYMENT JOB.
